So Randy Johnson is rumored to have topped the Sox's wish list this offseason. Now that'sa big surprise. He tops everybody's wish list, right?
Well, that will never happen. First of all, Randy Johnson would never approve a trade to the White Sox. He has a no-trade clause and can pick and choose where he will play next year. Why would he choose the Sox? If he comes here, he makes the Sox division favorites. If he goes to the Yankess or Cardinals, he makes them title favorites. That is a huge difference.
Also, since it is unlikely to happen in the first place, then any trade will be disclosed to the media before it was approved by the Unit. Since he makes a ton of money, the trade would probably inlude Paul Konerko, Carlos Lee and/or Jose Contreras. These guys are important, so if the trade gets turned down then you've got a couple high-priced malcontents on your team.
What you would have is a situation similar to the whole A-Rod-Nomar deal this summer, albeit on a much smaller scale. Regarless, common sense tells me that the Yankees would trade anything for The Mullet.
This. Will. Never. Happen.
